I have been watching Jared compete since i was a blue belt, his game has been a huge influence for me. And if you are like me you are always looking to bring your training to the next level. Anytime I am on the east coast, I always make a trip to visit him and get that little edge on the competition i need. If you are in the Philly area, there is no excuse for not checking out one of the most premier gyms in all of Pennsylvania.

"My name is Bryan McCauley. I'm 33 years old and live in the Bucks County area. I am a former Marine and I am currently employed as a police officer in Montgomery County, where I've been for about six years. I became interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after taking a police street survival seminar which highlighted the causes of many line-of-duty deaths. What struck me as a common denominator was how fast the fight went to the ground, and how there is little or no professional training on what to do when you get there. I met Jared Weiner at BJJ United and took a class. I was surprised at how comfortable the instructors and other students made me feel, whether they were advanced or beginners such as myself. Though I've only been a student at BJJ United for about eight weeks now, I've lost twenty pounds, and I feel great. I have a greater confidence level at work and in my personal life. I feel like I'm in the best shape since getting out of the Marines in 1998. Most of all, each class is fun. I find myself constantly looking forward to the next class. I would recommend anyone with even a slight interest in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, to go talk to Jared and try one class. I would be willing to bet that you'll wind up like me, hooked on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!" |

'Our classes
are back to back and we love that we can do a sport together."

My name is Tom sexton and IM a 39 year old carpet installer from Abington. My 7 year old son is a youth wrestler for the Abington Bulldogs club. After his 2005 season he wanted to continue grappling. After looking into a number of academies B.J.J.U. stood out so we decided to join together. Our classes
are back to back and we love that we can do a sport together. After watching my son and I, my 10 year old daughter also joined so it is truly a family affair. If you have a youth wrestler or martial artist in the family B.J.J.U. is a must. Unlike other karate or martial arts program your child will not be jumping
off trampolines while dance music blares in the background. They will be physically challenged while learning one of the oldest and most effective sport/self defense practices in the world. Though the instructors are internationally known they treat everyone, from the newest child to someone trying out their first class as family members.
Thank you.

For the last few years I have been receiving the newsletters from Lloyd Irvin. Every once in a while I would write Lloyd about MMA, and I expressed interest in learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and he recommended his black belt student Jared Weiner's school, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu United, in North East Philly. I had been looking around for quite some time at other schools before I decided to take Lloyd's advice and try out BJJ United. I contacted Jared and he helped me get set up to start right away. Upon meeting Jared I found that he is a great guy. I couldn't ask for a better teacher/sensei. Helpful, courteous and fair. If you listen to him enough you can tell he truly cares about his students. It becomes more a family then just a school. He is a good leader and instructor. He sets an excellent example for all the students. I have learned a great deal in the last 3 months from the high quality of instruction I have received here. The students, too, are all respectful and there is no attitude here which is great. It would only make training more difficult if we had to train with some arrogant people. Since starting BJJ here its really made every day for me better. I always look forward to the next class and what things I can do to improve.
Sincerely,
Mark Lane

I'm just a regular guy with a full-time day job Monday through Friday. I don't have a professional fighting contract with UFC, Pride or K-1, nor do I see myself having any offers anytime soon. I've never wanted to be a tough guy or a bully. I set out to find a place to train with a simple goal: to improve my health doing something I enjoy. I'm heavier than I want to be and although I've never had a perfect physique I used to be in much better shape. I've trained in martial arts before and always wondered what it would be like to train BJJ.
I looked around for several months to find a place I would realistically commit to and was worth my money. I found Philly MMA and then BJJ United. It was an easy decision to make since the commute is much shorter to BJJU and the two schools have a close relationship.
Philly MMA is a wonderful place and happens to be a splinter from BJJU. I can't imagine a better fit than BJJU.
I believe training in a martial art takes a unique mentality balancing respect for others, respect for yourself, humility, desire to learn and a solid work ethic. At BJJU, check your ego at the door and expect to work. A tight family..... Yes. A social club..... No. No one will try
to rip your head off and laziness is discouraged by the motivation you find all around you on the mat.
We have a ton of fun and Jared runs a tight ship. Always respectful. Always watching. I don't have a wrestling or grappling background. BJJ is like nothing I've done before in a very good way. If you're considering BJJ and want to find a solid place to learn or continue to learn, I say come meet me on the mat so Jared can get you started.

BJJUNITED and what I have learned here. I know what I can and can't do because I get to try it day in and day out, I don't get taught and move to the next step. Instead I get building blocks, you get what you put in with jujitsu and anything else in life, but also need the proper teaching. I have trained other arts and can honestly say two weeks into training here a whole new reality set in for me. Some things are fun to watch and some things are effective, depends on why you want to take any art, anyone can learn real jujitsu here, male, female or child, this is a building block for health, knowledge, new friends and most of all for me confidence.
Huge Thanks to Jared and BJJunited

Before I started training with Jared, looking back I see myself as an insecure, unsure and physically weak person. I was nervous walking around the city by myself from time to time, and completely lacking self esteem. I have been friends with Jared for years, and always knew he was at the top of his game in his sport. I had sent my stepson to train with him years back, so I thought why not give it a try myself. The first class I was very nervous, Less than half way through the first class, I felt at ease. Everyone in the academy made me feel like I had been there for years, and when I would get nervous, or feel stupid, Jared and everyone else would remind me that EVERYONE felt like that before. At no point ever did I feel uncomfortable, different or weak because I am a girl. Every single person made me feel right at home, and part of the Academy. Soon enough I was hooked on training and couldn't wait to get to class and learn more.
What's great about BJJ United, and Jared's teaching style, is that it's realistic when it comes to learning grappling techniques that you would be able to use in a dangerous situation, Jared ALWAYS teaches a step further in how not only to defend yourself, but also the quickest move out of a dangerous situation. Not that I find myself in many- but as a small woman cruising around a city, I feel like without going to these classes and training with Jared and men twice my size, I would not feel as safe as I do. After being at the BJJ United now for almost 8 months, my life has totally changed. I feel empowered, confident, fit, strong and most important, POSITIVE. It's amazing what an amazing teacher and an great sport can do for your life

Coming from the world of traditional standup martial arts styles such as Karate and Kung Fu, I've been exposed to my fair share of self-important sifus and senseis and fake black belts. At some of the traditional schools I've trained at, I was subjected to a lot of self-promotion from instructors about how great they were. However, few of them were willing to demonstrate their skills in competition.
Training at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu United has been a refreshing change because there is no grandstanding or posturing; Jared Weiner and his instructors put their reputations on the line in competition almost every other weekend.
They are great competitors but just as important, if not more important, is the fact that they are also GREAT TEACHERS. So great in fact that I did not hesitate to enroll my wife and son at the school. The progress my wife and son have made in a few short months has been remarkable. And if my immediate family ever expands, they'll be training at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu United as well.

I think it took me less than a week to feel comfortable training at BJJ United. It's not always easy to be a female walking into a gym that is mainly men, but I was accepted immediately. In the time that I've trained here, I feel like I've made extra progress thanks to the team that I get to train with. I've come to look at the team as my family. Not only does everyone have a serious drive to be successful, they also want the rest of the team to be just as good. I have never felt so much like I had people that believed in me. My 8 year old son trains here as well and I have never seen him care so much about anything the way he cares about BJJ. Between the kids that are actually in the program and the trainers these kids really have something special. They have fun, but they train hard. In the past few months BJJ United has become such a huge part of our lives that I can barely imagine life before we found it.

"BJJ United is awesome! Extensive experienced mixed with a great attitude is a winning combination every time, and with competitors and coaches like Jared Weiner and Wilson Reis, you would be crazy not to stop in and at least give them a try. If you're an experienced competitor looking for a great place to improve your skills, there is no other choice. I've benefited a ton from them, and I know that you will, too, no matter what your goals are. Do it!"

As you know, I am an OG when it comes to BJJ United, and now that you moved to my neighborhood, Jenkintown, my sons Joey, Jr. (15), and Casey Jones (17) have begun to train. It makes a dad proud to see his sons train and grow in a sport that he, himself, is passionate about. I want to thank you for instilling that passion in me. Your expertise in BJJ is second to none, and you always push us passed limits that we never thought attainable.
As far as the new academy, WOW!!!! It is huge. Plenty of matt space, bags, cage, big changing rooms, bright, clean...And with the new location comes extended hours, which is great for a working father of 3 like myself. My sons and I can come anytime to train Gi, No Gi, MMA, and Kettlebells.
And lastly, the staff, particularly Blain, are very helpful, knowledgeable, and courteous. A fine first impression when you walk through the door.
We wish you the best of luck, and we are proud to wear the BJJ United patch.
Respectfully,
Joey "JoeBoxer" Jones, Sr. |

I have been a student at BJJ United for 3 years and am extremely happy with the training. As a twenty year veteran of the martial arts I know a good program when I see one. BJJ United is a clean, professionally run academy with outstanding instruction. The atmosphere is friendly, non-intimidating and conducive towards learning. If you are looking for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, look no further. I highly recommend BJJ United.

"Training here provides me with both a stress relief and an intense sense of camaraderie."

|
BJJUnited has become my home away from home. Training here provides me with both a stress relief and an intense sense of camaraderie. All the teachers at BJJ make it their personal mission to see all of us grow. My military combative training peek my interest in Jiu Jitsu and BJJ has help me hone valuable skills which will help me in life and on the battle field. Every body is made to feel equal, from the fieriest competitor to the occasional trainer. All egos are checked at the door and training is done in a fun yet disciplined environment. Respect is given both ways between teacher and student. No one is ever made to feel embarrassed, all shapes, sizes, sexes and races are bought together for one common goal, to get better. BJJ has vastly set me ahead of my military peers in both physical and mental discipline and provides me with skills which can help save me or one of my soldiers lives. I am very proud to be part of the BJJUnited team/family.

"From day one it was totally different than any other place I had experienced before."
|
I've been training at BJJ United for 13 months. I had trained a little bit prior to stepping foot into the academy, from day one it was totally different than any other place I had experienced before. At other schools you encounter allot of ego, and a lack of welcoming from the students, and even the instructors sometimes. For me, and I believe this to be true for anyone, this makes for a poor learning atmosphere. But my first time at BJJ United as soon as I opened the door to the small Bustleton Ave. academy it was different, I was immediately welcomed as one of their own, it didn't matter what color was around their waist, I was treated as an equal. From that moment on I knew I wanted to be a part of BJJ United, everyone was eager to help me in the learning process. The instructors trained you hard but made it fun at the same time. When I started I just wanted to learn some self defense and get in better shape, at some point everyone began to feel like family, I know it sounds cliché but its true. In April I received my blue belt, something that in the beginning seemed almost impossible to reach, but being at BJJ United made me realize that anything is possible with hard work and effort. So I just want to thank all of my instructors and classmates.

| He's really able to break down moves and positions so they are easy to understand, and to express the strengths and weaknesses of particular techniques. |

|
I've been training at BJJ United since it opened, specifically because of Jared's instruction. He's really able to break down moves and positions so they are easy to understand, and to express the strengths and weaknesses of particular techniques. In each class, the moves flow into and compliment one another. This makes it easier to develop a full "game" by moving from technique to technique. The training environment is nothing short of amazing. It sounds trite, but the people who train here are like family. Everyone helps each other out, while still keeping the training intense. Since training here, my fitness has improved, my stress level has gone down, and my jiu-jitsu, both gi and no-gi, has gotten far more technical. The variety of class times available is extremely helpful, since my job can be very demanding. I've trained several other places, but have made BJJUnited my home.

"In 3 short months I lost 10 lbs. of body fat, greatly increased my strength and lowered my heart rate by 20 to 25 beats per minute."

|
Being an out of shape 44 year old father of 3 very active sons, I set out to look for some way to get back into condition. Fate landed me at Phila BJJ United. I was immediately impressed. I believe that anything worthwhile is worth working hard for so I started training. In 3 short months I lost 10 lbs. of body fat, greatly increased my strength and lowered my heart rate by 20 to 25 beats per minute. The training is honest and the end certainly justifies the means. In a positive ego free environment with a camaraderie only equal to that of my time as a United states Marine.

Having never previously trained in the martial arts, I am now able to look back on my decision to start training with Jared at BJJ United and know it was one of the best decisions I have made. Physically, the programs continue to push me to achieving my full potential, and mentally provide an opportunity to enhance my focus and determination. Jared and his instructors are dedicated to the success of their students and to developing lasting friendships. I would strongly encourage anyone who is thinking of getting involved to do so.

"I have had the opportunity to travel and train at numerous locations throughout the nation and Jared’s school definitely ranks as one of the best schools that I have worked out at. " |
I have been training with Jared for approximately 2 months, since moving to the area. From the first day that I joined his school I was treated as a member of the team—the team concept is really fostered through everyone’s actions. Jared facilitates a learning environment while maintaining a fun atmosphere. These surroundings coupled with Jared’s (as well as his team of instructors) knowledge creates a conducive setting for honing in one’s skills.
I have been training Brazilian Jiu Jistu for approximately nine years now. I have had the opportunity to travel and train at numerous locations throughout the nation and Jared’s school definitely ranks as one of the best schools that I have worked out at. I continue to grow and develop with each class that I attend under Jared’s tutelage.

"Hi, my name is Brad Daddis, Owner and Head Instructor of Daddis Fight Camps in Philadelphia and New Jersey. Have you ever wondered where martial arts instructors go to learn Jiu-Jitsu themselves? BJJ United is the answer! My students demand the best from me and I have an obligation to them to give them just that. I cannot afford 2nd best when it comes to my personal Jiu-Jitsu training. So, if there is anyone's word you may want to take when it comes to finding the best Jiu-Jitsu instruction in the nation, I think it is a safe bet to take it from me. I I am a proud member of the BJJ United family and have been blessed to be a part of this family for years. I wouldn't have it any other way. I've been around the game for quite a while and have seen it all when it comes instructors in action. Simply put, nothing compares. The coaching I provided them with and the philosophies that go with it are a result of my own tutalage and direct lineage to Jared Weiner. Honor and integrity are two important qualities for a martial arts instructor to have...So, you can trust ME when I say to put your name and e-mail address in the box and to schedule your first lesson today! For those seeking for a great Brazilian Jiu jitsu instruction around Philly, I definitely recommend Jared Weiner. He is an outstanding guy, dedicated instructor and one of the few Brazilian Jiu jitsu black belt instructors who is always up to compete showing the real spirit. The new location is great and has all the tools a fighter needs to excel on the sport, besides the good team spirit.

I am relatively new to BJJ united. I have only been training here a few months but the experience has been great. Jared, Wilson, Justin and Sharon are all excellent instructors. They offer an enormous amount of guidance, encouragement and instruction to all the students, whether you are training here for the first time or have been training for years. As soon as you walk in the door, they immediately make you feel welcome. They always take the time to explain the details and respond to every question with respect and concern. These guys are all about hard work and training to be your best.
All of students are also great and provide lots of support to the new members. I also have the added benefit of training with one of my favorite people in the world at BJJ United, my nephew, Dustin Hill, who is 13 years old.
